This meeting was changed from November 11 to November 16.
The conversation begins with the pre-region meeting workshop from 5:30-6:15 p.m.
Masks or no masks? In-person or distance learning? What about CRT? These questions and more have sown division in our communities and exponentially increased stakeholder interest and involvement in school matters across the state.
Many school board members have found the volume and tone of emails, social media messages and phone calls overwhelming. Others are dealing with angered and vocal parents at public meetings. During volatile times, it can be difficult to keep your eyes on what matters most: your students.
Join the OSSBA team as we discuss strategies you can use to manage – and even thrive – during this season of unprecedented community engagement and division.
The region meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. After dinner, attendees will participate in conversations about a variety of hot topics, including COVID-19, the status of state laws regarding mask mandates, Census redistricting, staffing shortages and upcoming student transfer law changes.
Dinner will be provided by Boynton Williams & Associates as a service to the OSSBA membership for all board members and up to two administrators.
Online registration is available through the OSSBA member portal. For information or questions about the member portal, please contact Lisa Deaton or Jennifer Carel by email with your name, district, and email address or call 888.528.3571.
When applicable, OSSBA will communicate the COVID safety protocols and requirements of each region meeting venue. The safety protocols are subject to change in accordance with leadership directives. In all cases, we recognize that masks help stop the spread of COVID-19 and they are encouraged. Masks will be available at check-in.
There is no charge for OSSBA region meetings and dinner is provided courtesy of our sponsor, BWA Architects.
