Join us and celebrate 75 years of school board member conferences in Oklahoma! The OSSBA/CCOSA Education Leadership Conference will feature speakers to inspire you, sessions to provide important information on pressing issues and exhibitors to showcase valuable products and services for your districts. The Education Leadership Conference is the PREMIER TRAINING OPPORTUNITY for Oklahoma school board members and provides excellent learning opportunities for district administrators and employees.

The conference will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 24 with the Dr. Bob Mooneyham Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament (register online below!), the new legislation and legal hot topics pre-conference and an early check-in opportunity and welcome reception.

We’ll continue Friday and Saturday with innovative, informative, instructional and inspirational sessions designed to enhance your knowledge, skills and abilities. Additionally on Friday, special one-day learning opportunities designed to enhance the work of district employees including administrative professionals, minutes clerks, encumbrance clerks and treasurers will be offered. The Education Leadership Conference will wrap up on Sunday with an opportunity to meet for roundtable discussions with similarly sized districts and the OSSBA and CCOSA legal teams.

The Friday general session will feature keynote speaker Dr. Adolph Brown (learn more below!). On Saturday, hear from OSSBA Executive Director Dr. Shawn Hime and CCOSA Executive Director Dr. Pam Deering, who will share updates from their respective associations.

NEW LEGISLATION AND LEGAL HOT TOPICS PRE-CONFERENCE

Separate registration required, conference registration not required.

Join The OSSBA Advocacy and Legal teams for a deep dive into the 2023 legislative session and how legislative and rule changes will affect schools this year. Topics will include:

  • FY 24 education budget and school finance
  • School district governance
  • Health
  • Safety and security
  • Curriculum
  • Graduation requirements

The OSSBA legal team will also have plenty of time for Q&A!

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

DR. ADOLPH BROWN

Dr. Brown is a businessman, clinical psychologist, author, research-scientist, teacher educator and servant leader. He also quite often gives talks to today’s youth on yesterday’s life lessons; as well as instructs master classes to teachers on how to reach EVERY student. He has a “head” for adults and a “heart” for kids as he facilitates over 100 ALL grade levels student assemblies a year.

The Education Leadership Conference will unite education leaders from across Oklahoma and leave you armed with new strategies and tools to be your best as you continue in the vital work of serving as leaders for your students and communities. 

NEW LEGISLATION AND LEGAL HOT TOPICS PRE-CONFERENCE AND WELCOME RECEPTION

Join OSSBA Executive Director Dr. Shawn Hime, Associate Director Joe Siano and the OSSBA legal team for a breakdown of important laws that were passed by the Oklahoma Legislature in 2023. Separate pre-conference registration is required.

The pre-conference will be held Thursday afternoon at the Oklahoma City Convention Center. Immediately following the pre-conference please join us in the exhibit hall for the Education Leadership Conference welcome reception.

Food, drinks and giveaways will be provided!

SPECIALIZED ONE-DAY LEARNING TRACKS

The Education Leadership Conference specialized learning tracks are special one-day learning opportunities designed to enhance the work of district employees including administrative professional and minutes clerks, encumbrance clerks and treasurers. Additional specialized track sessions at the Conference will focus on building community relationships through education foundations. Specialized learning track registration will include one-day Conference attendance featuring the daily general session, exhibit hall entrance and four 50-minute focused breakout sessions. For superintendents and school board members, these special sessions are included with full Conference registration.

LEGAL ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS

The OSSBA and CCOSA legal teams take your calls and answer your questions all year! Now, don’t miss the chance to meet with them face-to-face about the most pressing issues facing your district and learn what is happening in other similarly sized districts during the Legal Roundtables on Sunday morning. The roundtable discussions will be held at the Oklahoma City Convention Center.

An optional breakfast will be available for your convenience on Sunday morning before the legal roundtables begin. Tickets are available by pre-purchase only and will not be available on-site.

New board members and elected or appointed incumbents will have the opportunity to obtain ALL 12 NEW/6 INCUMBENT REQUIRED CREDITS by attending all days of the Education Leadership Conference. Opportunities to earn required finance, open meeting act, and ethics credits will be offered on both Friday and Saturday.

REGISTRATION

Online registration is now closed. Registration will be available on site at the OKC Convention Center beginning at 7:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, and 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26.

Education Leadership Conference registration will be $450 for OSSBA members,  $900 for non-members, through August 11. Registrations after August 11 will be $550 for members and $1100 for non-members. Thursday pre-conference registration is $150 and Friday specialized learning track registration will be $225 for OSSBA members. Hotel booking information will be provided with your registration confirmation.
