Region 6 Fall Meeting

September 23, 2021 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

ENGAGEMENT DURING DIFFICULT TIMES

Keeping your focus amid division, doubt and distrust

The conversation begins with the pre-region meeting workshop from 5:30-6:15 p.m.

Masks or no masks? In-person or distance learning? What about CRT? These questions and more have sown division in our communities and exponentially increased stakeholder interest and involvement in school matters across the state.

Many school board members have found the volume and tone of emails, social media messages and phone calls overwhelming. Others are dealing with angered and vocal parents at public meetings. During volatile times, it can be difficult to keep your eyes on what matters most: your students.

Join the OSSBA team as we discuss strategies you can use to manage – and even thrive – during this season of unprecedented community engagement and division.

LEGAL HOT TOPICS CONVERSATION

The region meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. After dinner, attendees will participate in conversations about a variety of hot topics, including COVID-19, the status of state laws regarding mask mandates, Census redistricting, staffing shortages and upcoming student transfer law changes.

Dinner will be provided by Boynton Williams & Associates as a service to the OSSBA membership for all board members and up to two administrators.

The Oklahoma City Public Schools Clara Luper Center for Education Services requires face coverings to be worn regardless of your vaccination status. Masks will be available at check-in.
