Leading and Learning Together

OSSBA exists to help you become a better board member and to help your board become more effective. Quality, customized training is one way OSSBA serves its members.

Whole board development sessions are a great opportunity for boards and district leaders to work together on issues that will improve the board’s effectiveness and help you grow as a governance team. Our team can customize an in-person or virtual training based on your board’s needs.

We can help your board become an even stronger board!

Whole board development is the concept of continuous learning with your board as a team. Working together as a team leads to a common understanding of issues, responsibilities and accountability. A board with greater understanding leads to better decision-making. Better decisions lead to greater student achievement, the ultimate goal of all school boards.

Our programs use facilitators to serve as mentors to the board and superintendent. Facilitators use inquiry and probing questions to guide the leadership team to strategies for confronting and solving problems within an organized framework. In this manner, future issues can be resolved in a thoughtfully reasoned, data-based way using the techniques acquired through board development.
