Safety and security are priorities for every school district. The challenges of meeting the needs of students, staff, and community for all areas of safety means districts must take a holistic approach to include physical safety, mental health, and personal connections. This multi-session workshop will feature speakers who will address a multi-disciplinary approach to safety and security.

This one-day workshop will focus on a holistic approach to safety in schools. Mental health and well-being of students and staff receive significant attention throughout the day in addition to conversations around facility assessments and partnerships with Student Resource Officers. We know that tending to students’ mental health is a crucial part of creating a safe culture for learning. It is exciting to create a space for school counselors, administrators, and board members to have a multi-disciplinary conversation about school safety.

This event will benefit school board members, district and site administrators, safety and security personnel, and school counselors. School board members will earn six ethics credits for attending the full day. Lunch will be provided.

Registration is $150 for OSSBA members and $300 for non-OSSBA members. Registrations are due by Feb. 29, 2024. In-person registrations after the deadline are $175 ($350 for non-members). Notice of in-person registration cancellation must be received in writing by the registration due date for a refund (less a $25 cancellation fee). No refunds will be offered after the due date.
